thankyou!
I like this very much. It's very peaceful.
Thankyou
I wanted it to look as though she is hugging the earth
as well as being the earth ....
Very nice indeed...lovely idea...great big hugs...XXX
thankyou jen!
Hugs to you too sweetie XXX
You've really captured something quite magical in it...just before the earth begins to wake up, you get the sensation of it being asleep and profoundly feminine and nurturing...just lovely, Wendy...the sense of peace in it is wonderful...great big hugs...XX
Oh thankyou jen, that is such a lovely thing to say amd means so much to me you have no idea, as you know i have never considered myself a 'proper' artist, but something is happening lately and I feel this is what I should be doing, I have been put down in the past and it's friends like you and others who are giving me my confidence back, your comments have made me tearful in a nice way XX
Oh, hell, sweet thing, I've been crushed from a great height with my art, so forget about what other people think. If it's in you to do it, do it...it's a wonderful form of relaxation as well...totally distracts you from your everyday world's problems and hassles...you can just lose yourself in the image you're painting, and this one really spoke to me...the only reason I stopped in the end was because I bloody well ran out of space for any more paintings, and it's no use in my case of keeping on painting when the art world is telling me they're not for them...in my case, I did actually want an audience...silly me...HLOL...great big hugs...XXX
Hi Jen - excuse me butting in but couldn't you do a small exhibition yourself? Anything you sell would be an added bonus.
Marian
Tried that and didn't sell anything...HLOL...mind you it was upstairs in an art shop in Poole so don't think many people saw it or weren't willing to pay my prices, which weren't high for the amount of work that went into each one...they were my landscape paintings of Poole so conventional pics...and now with a recession looming, nobody's prepared to lash out on luxury goods especially with the threat of 40% increase in energy bills this winter...thanks though for the thought...might try it one day, but not when the economy is in a slump...been there, done that, and won't try it again...HLOL...great big hugs...XX
Tell me about it!
Still you should keep on doing what you love, I have friends who have put on exhibitions and not sold one painting, not because it's not great artwork it's just people often haven't got the money for 'luxury' although art should not be classed as a luxury in my opinion
-it's a necessity for me
Yes, it was for me for many years, but I think not anymore...I don't miss it now...it was a phase in my life that I've been through and don't, at the moment anyway, want to resurrect...carry on enjoying it if you love doing it...it's wonderfully therapeutic...great big hugs...XXX
Try exhibiting in a church hall and let the church make a small cover charge in lieu of charging you for using their premises.
Over here artists are encouraged to have exhibitions starting off with a "vernissage" which is a private (preview) viewing where nibbles are provided.
Someone I know held one at a local supermarket!
Ah, France is an appreciator of art, not so in the UK...we're downright awful when it comes to art and culture...gone for the big boys and girls to the neglect of all the other labouring artists around the country...can't really go to a church either as I don't believe in god anymore...HLOL...would go against my principles to use a church in that way...great big hugs...XXX
I guess so - six year old Aimée stays behind after school for an hour each Tuesday to do pottery. She's already made some nice (and not so nice) pieces.
that's nice...I used to teach young ones for a while how to make things in clay...got some very nice pieces from some, and even from those who weren't artistic...it was good fun...great big hugs...
May I interject with a great big (((DITTO))) and (((HUGS))) and...
Ditto on Jen's remarks above and below and a rousing 'Hi, how ya doin'...to you both, eh!
Paint on Wendy dearheart; did I tell you 'green' is my favourite hue?
Methinks you're both worthy of a great big (((SMOOOOOCH))) each, too!
And bundles of Hugs, of course...
to you both.
Love is always... Paint on.. and on....
neil xx
Hugs to you too Neil XX ![]()
It really does capture the essence of mother earth. Thanks for posting this!
Thankyou Ty!
I was trying to convey my interpretation of Gaia and the love we have for earth and how precious it reall y is
That is really lovely! As mentioned already, it captures the spirit of Mother Earth beautifully. x
Thankyou confuddled
I am pleased it has come across how i wanted, the female image at the bottom, her face doesn't look right to me on the photo, looks different for real, i think it's the way the light has caught it x
a lovely idea, well executed.
Thankyou kev!
pleased you like it, i loved painting it, very therapuetic
To me it has elements which are not only calm, but there seems to be something dark about the picture it too.
Hi techno -thankyou for commenting, yes I suppose the earth has a dark side, there is duality in everything, none more so than nature but I had no intention of anything but calm so maybe it's just the colours or that it has a sleepy element, it is me trying to get across how precious this earth is and we should be nurturing and loving it like the 'mother' in the painting.
I like this a lot! And using Pastels, Well Done and I hope you get the recognition you deserve.![]()
Thankyou for commenting Padds, I love it when I get a reaction from my artwork and this painting seems to have struck home with several people which is great -thanks for the compliment too!
( I love pastels)
I love Pastels as well, only used them 3 times but took to them straight away, sadly I am allergic to Pastels so had to stop. ![]()
Ah you would have to wear a dust mask then
-you could still use them maybe if it's asthama and blow the dust outside and use a fixing spray and mask? - I get asthma and the pigments are not good if you breathe them in
Making the rounds to say Hi to all my friends.....unfortunately, I am not seeing your work here. I will take everyones word for how beautiful it is though.
Have a great day....StandingTree
Hi Standing tree -here it is, don't know what happened there so re-posted it! thankyou for coming to say hello -lovely to see you
