Actually it is on a large piece of card that usually makes up Pizza Boxes :0 A friend keeps me supplied that would otherwise be thrown away. Shiny one side and paintable on the other. Very versatile as it will take Watercolour, Acrylics and Pastel. This measures approx 25 inch X 16 inch. Your idea sounds very good and time allowing I might give that a go sometime next week. Thanks

Now that's what I call recycling! it is expensive buying art supplies so a good idea! A friend of mine uses hardboard and plywood to paint on, and mdf offcuts are good too -if you go to a local diy shop they often have pieces that they give you or charge you pence

I never thought of mdf for painting on! I use all sorts of stuff for making little model scenes and putting characters in them using Fimo a modelling clay, mostly penguins (I love em) The biggest I do is at Christmas for the kids that pass our shop. They love to see it. It has penguins, igloos, houses made out of the sweet boxes with plastic from other stuff for windows. Oh don't get me started I am a big kid at heart.lol.

Yes, I used MDF quite a lot for some of my very detailed paintings because canvas gave too much...unfortunately, it's frowned on by galleries, still never mind...
great big hugs..-

Thanks for the lovely welcome, not been around much as I haven't been too well but back on track now. Still not done anything about the unfinished work. That's due to back problems that affect my arms and hands.

This is lovely -is it on canvas? if you get stuck on a part of a painting it's sometimes better to leave it and come back to it after a while -you could draw the talons on a sketch pad until they are right and then transfer it with tracing paper? Trace the legs off the canvas first
then you can practise without spoiling the painting as it is
