Julie, I just recarved it - worked on original(what's a shame)
It didn't take long. If I have to reproduce it will take 2 to 4 weeks,depending of the size and elements included.-

It must be more difficult to recarve something than to start from just a block of wood.
The new version is less fussy.
I prefer the bigger eyes and wilder hair of your version.

Both are difficult, Alan.
It' s actually easier to start new one, because there is no risk to damage an old work and no need to keep strictly exacly the same shape, but working in antique restoration made me more versatille and gave me more challenges and confidence.
